EXPOSURE
PREVENT DISPERSION OF DUST!

  • INHALATION
    		• Cough. Sore throat. Bronchial irritation. Nasal bleeding.
    		Local exhaust or breathing protection.
    		Fresh air, rest. Refer for medical attention.
  • SKIN
    		• Redness. Pain.
    		Protective gloves. Protective clothing.
    		Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap. Refer for medical attention.
  • EYES
    		• Redness. Pain. Conjunctivitis.
    		Face shield or eye protection in combination with breathing protection.
    		First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
  • INGESTION
    		• Abdominal pain. Cough.
    		Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.
    		Rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting. Refer for medical attention.
    SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
    Sweep spilled substance into covered containers; if appropriate, moisten first to prevent dusting. Carefully collect remainder, then remove to safe place (extra personal protection: A/P2 filter respirator for organic vapour and harmful dust).
    		Separated from strong oxidants, strong bases, strong acids. Ventilation along the floor.

     WHITE SOLID IN VARIOUS FORMS , WITH CHARACTERISTIC ODOUR.

    PHYSICAL DANGERS:
     Dust explosion possible if in powder or granular form, mixed with air.

    CHEMICAL DANGERS:
     Reacts with strong oxidants. Reacts violently on heating with copper oxide or sodium nitrite, causing explosion hazard.

    OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs):
     TLV: 1 ppm; 6.1 mg/m3 (ACGIH 1994-1995).
    OSHA PEL: TWA 12 mg/m3 (2 ppm)
    NIOSH REL: TWA 6 mg/m3 (1 ppm)
    NIOSH IDLH: 60 mg/m3


    		ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
     The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of the vapour and the dust, and by ingestion.

    INHALATION RISK:
     Evaporation of the substance is rather slow, but a harmful concentration of airborne particles can be reached quickly, when dispersed.

    EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
     The substance irritates the eyes, the skin and the respiratory tract.

    EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
     Repeated or prolonged contact may cause skin sensitization. Repeated or prolonged inhalation exposure may cause asthma (see Notes).

    The symptoms of asthma often do not become manifest until a few hours have passed and they are aggravated by physical effort. Rest and medical observation are therefore essential. Anyone who has shown symptoms of asthma due to this substance should avoid all further contact with this substance.
