TYPES OF HAZARD/ EXPOSURE
ACUTE HAZARDS/ SYMPTOMS
PREVENTION
FIRST AID/ FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE
Combustible.
Gives off irritating or toxic fumes (or gases) in a fire.
NO open flames.
NO contact with water and active chemicals.
Powder, carbon dioxide.
Use water ONLY in flooding amounts.
EXPLOSION
Closed containers may develop pressure and explode on exposure to heat or if contaminated with water or reactive chemicals.
In case of fire: cool drums, etc., by spraying with water but avoid contact of the substance with water.
Combat fire from a sheltered position.
EXPOSURE
AVOID ALL CONTACT!
IN ALL CASES CONSULT A DOCTOR!
INHALATION
Abdominal pain.
Cough.
Nausea.
Shortness of breath.
Sore throat.
Vomiting.
Symptoms may be delayed (see Notes).
Local exhaust.
Breathing protection.
Fresh air, rest.
Half-upright position.
Artificial respiration if indicated.
Refer for medical attention.
SKIN
Redness.
Burning sensation.
Pain.
Protective gloves.
Protective clothing.
Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap.
Refer for medical attention.
EYES
Redness.
Pain.
Blurred vision.
Face shield
or eye protection in combination with breathing protection.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
INGESTION
(further see Inhalation).
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.
Rinse mouth.
Give a slurry of activated charcoal in water to drink.
Refer for medical attention.
SPILLAGE DISPOSAL
STORAGE
PACKAGING & LABELLING
Evacuate danger area!
Consult an expert in case of a large spillage!
Collect leaking liquid in covered containers.
Treat remaining liquid with a mixture of ammonia (4-8%), detergent (2%), and water.
Absorb remaining liquid in sand or inert absorbent and remove to safe place.
If solid collect the substance into containers
(extra personal protection: complete protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus).
Recommended storage temperature 20-25°C.
Separated from
food and feedstuffs (see Chemical Dangers).
Dry.
Keep in a well-ventilated room.
