TYPES OF HAZARD/ EXPOSURE
ACUTE HAZARDS/ SYMPTOMS
PREVENTION
FIRST AID/ FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE
Heating will cause rise in pressure with risk of bursting.
See Notes.
NO open flames, NO sparks, and NO smoking.
NO contact with strong oxidizing agents.
NO contact with hot surfaces.
Shut off supply; if not possible and no risk to surroundings, let the fire burn itself out; in other cases extinguish with
water spray.
If extinguished, risk of explosive re-ignition.
Fire fighters should wear complete protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus.
EXPLOSION
Gas/air mixtures are explosive.
Closed system, ventilation, explosion-proof electrical equipment and lighting.
Use non-sparking handtools.
Prevent build-up of electrostatic charges (e.g., by grounding).
In case of fire: keep cylinder cool by spraying with water.
Combat fire from a sheltered position.
EXPOSURE
AVOID ALL CONTACT!
IN ALL CASES CONSULT A DOCTOR!
INHALATION
Abdominal pain,
confusion,
drowsiness,
headache,
digestive problems
nausea.
Symptoms may be delayed (see Notes).
Ventilation, local exhaust, or breathing protection.
Fresh air, rest,
half-upright position,
artificial respiration if indicated,
and refer for medical attention.
SKIN
MAY BE ABSORBED!
Redness,
roughness,
liquid causes skin burns,
blisters.
Protective gloves.
Remove contaminated clothes,
rinse skin with plenty of water or shower,
and refer for medical attention.
EYES
Liquid splashes can cause
redness,
conjuctivitis,
severe deep burns.
Safety goggles
or eye protection in combination with breathing protection.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
INGESTION
SPILLAGE DISPOSAL
STORAGE
PACKAGING & LABELLING
Evacuate danger area!
Consult an expert!
Ventilation.
Eliminate ignition sources and stop flow of gas if possible
(extra personal protection: complete protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus).
Separated from
strong oxidants,
aluminium, food and feedstuffs, rubbers.
