Fresh air, rest, half-upright position, artificial respiration if indicated, and refer for medical attention. SKIN Redness, skin burns, pain. Protective gloves. Protective clothing. Remove contaminated clothes, rinse skin with plenty of water or shower, and refer for medical attention. EYES Redness, pain, blurred vision, severe deep burns. Face shield or eye protection in combination with breathing protection. First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor. INGESTION Diarrhoea, sore throat, vomiting. Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work. Rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting, and refer for medical attention. SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING Evacuate danger area! Consult an expert! Collect leaking and spilled liquid in sealable containers as far as possible. Absorb remaining liquid in sand or inert absorbent and remove to safe place (extra personal protection: complete protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus). Fireproof. Separated from strong oxidants, strong acids, aluminium, food and feedstuffs, metals such as tin, and steel. Cool. Dry. Keep in a well-ventilated room. PHYSICAL DANGERS: The vapour is heavier than air and may travel along the ground; distant ignition possible. CHEMICAL DANGERS: The substance decomposes on burning producing toxic fumes and gases (ammonia, oxides of nitrogen). The substance is a weak base, forming water-soluble salts with acids. Reacts with strong oxidants and strong acids. Corrosive to tin, aluminum, and some steels. OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs): TLV (as for n-Butylamine): 5 ppm; 15 mg/m3 as CEILING (skin) (ACGIH 1991-1992). TLV not established. MAK as : 5 ppm; 15 mg/m3 I,H (1990). ROUTES OF EXPOSURE: The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its vapour and by ingestion. INHALATION RISK: A harmful contamination of the air can be reached very quickly on evaporation of this substance at 20°C. EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE: The substance is corrosive to the eyes, the skin and the respiratory tract. Corrosive on ingestion. Inhalation of the vapour may cause lung oedema (see Notes). The substance may cause effects on the eyes and the cornea , resulting in disturbed vision after a few hours. EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE: Repeated or prolonged contact with skin may cause dermatitis.
