CHEMICAL DANGERS:
The substance decomposes
on heating and
on burning
producing toxic and corrosive fumes including lead oxides, acetic acid.
Reacts
violently with bromates, phosphates, carbonates, phenols.
OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs):
TLV (as Pb): ppm; 0.05 mg/m3 A3 (ACGIH 1996).
MAK: ppm; 0.1 mg/m3; as Pb (1996).
|
ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body
by inhalation and
by ingestion.
INHALATION RISK:
Evaporation at 20°C is negligible; a nuisance-causing concentration of airborne particles can, however, be reached quickly when dispersed, especially, if powdered.
EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
The substance
irritates
the eyes.
The substance may cause effects on the blood and central nervous system
, resulting in hemolytic anemia, nervous disorders, kidney impairment.
The effects may be delayed.
Medical observation is indicated.
EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
The substance may have effects on the blood, bone marrow, cardiovascular system, kidneys, nervous system
, resulting in anaemia, increase of blood pressure, paralysis, kidney impairment, behavioural effects.
This substance is possibly carcinogenic to humans.
Does cause serious reproductive toxicity in humans.

ENVIRONMENTAL DATA
|
The substance is toxic to aquatic organisms.
This substance may be hazardous to the environment; special attention should be given to birds, mammals, soil, water.
In the food chain important to humans, bioaccumulation takes place, specifically in plants and animals.
It is strongly advised not to let the chemical enter into the environment because it persists in the environment.
