  • INHALATION
    		• Cough. Sore throat. (see Ingestion).
    		Local exhaust or breathing protection.
    		Fresh air, rest. Refer for medical attention.
  • SKIN
    		• Redness.
    		Protective gloves. Protective clothing.
    		Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse skin with plenty of water or shower. Refer for medical attention.
  • EYES
    		• Redness. Pain.
    		Safety spectacles, or eye protection in combination with breathing protection if powder.
    		First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
  • INGESTION
    		• Abdominal pain. Diarrhoea. Drowsiness. Headache. Nausea. Vomiting. Muscular cramp. Constipation. Excitation. Disorientation.
    		Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.
    		Rinse mouth. Induce vomiting (ONLY IN CONSCIOUS PERSONS!). Refer for medical attention.
    SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
    Do NOT wash away into sewer. Sweep spilled substance into sealable containers; if appropriate, moisten first to prevent dusting. Carefully collect remainder, then remove to safe place (extra personal protection: chemical protection suit including self-contained breathing apparatus).
    		Provision to contain effluent from fire extinguishing. Separated from food and feedstuffs. Well closed.
    		Do not transport with food and feedstuffs.

    PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
     ODOURLESS WHITE HEAVY POWDER




    CHEMICAL DANGERS:
     The substance decomposes on heating above 270° producing toxic fumes including arsenic, lead and their compounds.

    OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs):
     TLV (as TWA): ppm; 0.15 mg/m3 as Pb3(AsO4)2 (ACGIH 1997).


    		ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
     The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its dust and by ingestion.

    INHALATION RISK:
     Evaporation at 20°C is negligible; a harmful concentration of airborne particles can, however, be reached quickly when dispersed, especially if powdered.

    EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
     The substance irritates the eyes, the skin and the respiratory tract. The substance may cause effects on the gastrointestinal tract and nervous system.

    EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
     The substance may have effects on the gastrointestinal tract, nervous system, kidneys, liver and blood. This substance is carcinogenic to humans. May cause reproductive toxicity in humans.

    DATA

    Occurs in nature as the mineral schultenite. Depending on the degree of exposure, periodic medical examination is indicated. Gypsine and Soprabel are trade names.
