FIRE Combustible. Gives off irritating or toxic fumes (or gases) in a fire.
NO open flames.
Water spray, alcohol-resistant foam, powder, carbon dioxide.
EXPLOSION Above 88°C explosive vapour/air mixtures may be formed.
Above 88°C use a closed system, ventilation.
In case of fire: keep drums, etc., cool by spraying with water.
EXPOSURE
STRICT HYGIENE!

  • INHALATION
    		• Cough. Laboured breathing. Sore throat. Cyanosis.
    		Local exhaust or breathing protection.
    		Fresh air, rest. Refer for medical attention.
  • SKIN
    		• MAY BE ABSORBED! Dry skin. Redness. Pain.
    		Protective gloves. Protective clothing.
    		Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse skin with plenty of water or shower. Refer for medical attention.
  • EYES
    		• Redness. Pain.
    		Face shield, or eye protection in combination with breathing protection.
    		First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
  • INGESTION
    		• Abdominal pain. Diarrhoea. Nausea. Vomiting. Weakness. Vertigo.
    		Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.
    		Rest. Refer for medical attention.
    SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
    If the substance is melted: collect leaking and spilled liquid in sealable containers as far as possible, absorb remaining liquid in sand or inert absorbent and remove to safe place, do NOT wash away into sewer. If the substance is solid: sweep spilled substance into container, carefully collect remainder, then remove to a safe place (extra personal protection: complete protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus).
    		Separated from strong oxidants, food and feedstuffs. Cool. Keep in the dark.
    		Airtight. Do not transport with food and feedstuffs.

    PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
     COLOURLESS TO YELLOW OILY LIQUID OR CRYSTALS. TURNS BROWN RED ON EXPOSURE TO AIR AND LIGHT.

     The substance decomposes on heating and on burning producing toxic fumes including nitrogen oxides. Reacts with oxidants. Reacts violently with lead dioxide.

    OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs):
     TLV: 0.1 ppm; 0.44 mg/m3 A2 (skin) (ACGIH 1992-1993).
    OSHA PEL: TWA 5 ppm (22 mg/m3) skin
    NIOSH REL: Ca C 0.14 ppm (0.6 mg/m3) 2-hr skin See Appendix A
    NIOSH IDLH: Potential occupational carcinogen 15 ppm


    		ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
     The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its aerosol, through the skin, by ingestion.

    INHALATION RISK:
     A harmful contamination of the air can be reached rather quickly on evaporation of this substance at 20°C.

    EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
     The substance irritates the eyes, the skin, the respiratory tract. The substance may cause effects on the blood , resulting in hemolysis, kidney impairment, liver impairment. The effects may be delayed. Medical observation is indicated.

    EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
     Repeated or prolonged contact with skin may cause dermatitis. Repeated or prolonged contact may cause skin sensitization. The substance may have effects on the blood , resulting in anaemia.
