FIRE Not combustible. Gives off irritating or toxic fumes (or gases) in a fire.

In case of fire in the surroundings: dry sand, powder, carbon dioxide, NO hydrous agents.
EXPLOSION

In case of fire: cool drums, etc., by spraying with water but avoid contact of the substance with water.
EXPOSURE
STRICT HYGIENE!
IN ALL CASES CONSULT A DOCTOR!
  • INHALATION
    		• Burning sensation. Cough. Laboured breathing. Shortness of breath. Sore throat. Wheezing.
    		Ventilation, local exhaust, or breathing protection.
    		Fresh air, rest. Half-upright position. Artificial respiration if indicated. Refer for medical attention.
  • SKIN
    		• Redness. Skin burns. Pain. Blisters.
    		Protective gloves. Protective clothing.
    		Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap. Refer for medical attention.
  • EYES
    		• Redness. Pain. Severe deep burns.
    		Safety goggles, face shield, or eye protection in combination with breathing protection.
    		First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
  • INGESTION
    		• Abdominal cramps. Burning sensation. Diarrhoea. Vomiting. (See Inhalation).
    		Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.
    		Give plenty of water to drink. Refer for medical attention.
    SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
    Consult an expert! Cautiously neutralize spilled liquid with soda ash or lime. Do NOT wash away into sewer, then remove to safe place (extra personal protection: complete protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus).
    		Separated from combustible materials, food and feedstuffs. Dry. Well closed. Keep in a well-ventilated room.
    		Airtight. Unbreakable packaging; put breakable packaging into closed unbreakable container. Do not transport with food and feedstuffs.

    PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
     COLOURLESS OR SLIGHTLY YELLOW FUMING LIQUID , WITH PUNGENT ODOUR.

    PHYSICAL DANGERS:
     The vapour is heavier than air.

    CHEMICAL DANGERS:
     The substance decomposes on heating producing toxic fumes. Reacts violently with water forming corrosive hydrochloric acid and tin oxide fumes. Reacts with turpentine, alcohols and amines causing fire and explosion hazard. Attacks many metals, some forms of plastics, rubber and coatings. Reacts with moist air to form hydrochloric acid.

    OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs):
     TLV: ppm; 2 mg/m3 as tin (ACGIH 1997).


    		ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
     The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its vapour and aerosol.

    INHALATION RISK:
     A harmful contamination of the air can be reached very quickly on evaporation of this substance at 20°C.

    EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
     The substance is corrosive to the eyes, the skin and the respiratory tract. Inhalation of fumes and aerosols may cause lung oedema (see Notes).

    EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
     The substance may have effects on the respiratory tract , resulting in impaired functions.

    Reacts violently with fire extinguishing agents such as water. The symptoms of lung oedema often do not become manifest until a few hours have passed and they are aggravated by physical effort. Rest and medical observation is therefore essential. Immediate administration of an appropriate spray, by a doctor or a person authorized by him/her, should be considered.
