FIRE Combustible. Gives off irritating or toxic fumes (or gases) in a fire.
NO open flames. NO contact with oxidants.
Powder, water spray, foam, carbon dioxide.
EXPLOSION Risk of fire and explosion on contact with oxidants.

In case of fire: keep drums, etc., cool by spraying with water.
EXPOSURE
PREVENT DISPERSION OF DUST! AVOID ALL CONTACT!
IN ALL CASES CONSULT A DOCTOR!
  • INHALATION
    		• Blue lips or finger nails. Blue skin. Cough. Dizziness. Headache. Nausea. Shortness of breath. Sore throat. Unconsciousness. Vomiting. Weakness.
    		Avoid inhalation of fine dust and mist. Ventilation (not if powder), local exhaust, or breathing protection.
    		Fresh air, rest. Artificial respiration if indicated. Refer for medical attention. See Notes.
  • SKIN
    		• MAY BE ABSORBED! Redness (Further see Inhalation).
    		Protective clothing.
    		Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap. Refer for medical attention. Wear protective gloves when administering first aid.
  • EYES
    		• Redness. Pain.
    		Face shield.
    		First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
  • INGESTION
    		• Abdominal pain (further see Inhalation).
    		Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work. Wash hands before eating.
    		Rinse mouth. Induce vomiting (ONLY IN CONSCIOUS PERSONS!). Rest. Wear protective gloves when inducing vomiting. Refer for medical attention. See Notes.
    SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
    Do NOT wash away into sewer. Sweep spilled substance into sealable containers; if appropriate, moisten first to prevent dusting. Carefully collect remainder, then remove to safe place (extra personal protection: A/P2 filter respirator for organic vapour and harmful dust).
    		Separated from strong oxidants, strong acids, food and feedstuffs. Dry. Keep in the dark. Well closed. Ventilation along the floor.
    		Airtight. Unbreakable packaging; put breakable packaging into closed unbreakable container. Do not transport with food and feedstuffs.

    PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
     HYGROSCOPIC WHITE CRYSTALS. TURNS DARK ON EXPOSURE TO AIR AND LIGHT.

    PHYSICAL DANGERS:
     The vapour is heavier than air.

    CHEMICAL DANGERS:
     On combustion, forms toxic fumes including nitrogen oxides. The substance decomposes on heating or on contact with acids producing toxic fumes including aniline and hydrochloric acid. Reacts violently with oxidants causing fire and explosion hazard.

    OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs):
     TLV not established.
    MAK: class IIIB, Pregnancy: D (Aniline) (1992).


    		ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
     The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation, through the skin and by ingestion.

    INHALATION RISK:
     Evaporation at 20°C is negligible; a harmful concentration of airborne particles can, however, be reached quickly.

    EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
     The substance irritates the eyes, the skin and the respiratory tract. The substance may cause effects on the blood , resulting in formation of methaemoglobin.

    EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
     Repeated or prolonged contact may cause skin sensitization. The substance may have effects on the spleen, liver, kidneys and blood , resulting in formation of methaemoglobin. This substance is possibly carcinogenic to humans.

    Explosive limits are unknown in literature. Use of alcoholic beverages enhances the harmful effect. Depending on the degree of exposure, periodic medical examination is indicated. Specific treatment is necessary in case of poisoning with this substance; the appropriate means with instructions must be available. Do NOT take working clothes home.
