EXPOSURE

  • INHALATION
  • Cough, drowsiness, headache, laboured breathing, nausea, vomiting, weakness, metallic taste.
Ventilation, local exhaust, or breathing protection.
Fresh air, rest, and refer for medical attention.
  • SKIN
  • Redness, pain.
    Protective gloves.
Remove contaminated clothes, rinse skin with plenty of water or shower, and refer for medical attention if irritation persists.
  • EYES
  • Redness, pain.
    Safety goggles.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
  • INGESTION
  • Sore throat (further see Inhalation).
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.
Rinse mouth, give plenty of water to drink, induce vomiting (ONLY IN CONSCIOUS PERSONS!), and refer for medical attention.
SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
Collect leaking and spilled liquid in sealable containers as far as possible, absorb remaining liquid in sand or inert absorbent and remove to safe place.
    Separated from strong oxidants.

    PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
CLEAR, COLOURLESS LIQUID , WITH CHARACTERISTIC ODOUR.

    PHYSICAL DANGERS:

    CHEMICAL DANGERS:
Upon heating, toxic fumes are formed. Reacts violently with strong oxidants, causing fire and explosion hazard.

    OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs):
    TLV: 10 ppm; 61 mg/m3 (as TWA); 20 ppm; 121 mg/m3 (as STEL) (ACGIH 1992-1993)
    OSHA PEL: TWA 10 ppm (60 mg/m3)
    NIOSH REL: TWA 10 ppm (60 mg/m3) ST 20 ppm (120 mg/m3)
    NIOSH IDLH: 100 ppm

    ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation and by ingestion.

    INHALATION RISK:
A harmful contamination of the air will be reached rather slowly on evaporation of this substance at 20°C.

    EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
The substance irritates the eyes, the skin, and the respiratory tract. The substance may cause effects on the central nervous system.

EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
The liquid defats the skin. The substance may have effects on the liver and kidneys.
