Summary of Experience

Dr. Tonking was born in Newton, New Jersey. He received his bachelors and Ph.D. degrees from Princeton University with a geology major and conducted additional graduate work in geology at Northwestern University and Colorado School of Mines.

Professional experience includes two years as field geologist with Kennecott Corporation in the Rocky Mountains and seven years as an exploration geologist with subsidiaries of the Standard Oil Company of California. Dr. Tonking joined Brown & Root in Houston, Texas in 1962, as deputy manager and technical director of Project Mohole. He left in 1979 in the position of Senior Manager of Geology and Mining and Corporate Chief Geologist to become Executive Vice President of Keplinger and Associates, international energy consultants. In 1981, he joined GCO Minerals, a subsidiary of International Paper Company as Executive Vice President and Director. Since 1986, he has been an international consultant in mineral resources and also served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Texas Star Resources Corporation from 1991 to 1994.

He has initiated and directed mineral exploration programs worldwide, sited a major nuclear power plant, and served on management committees involved with establishing engineering design and construction parameters for mining and processing facilities for several different mineral commodities in the Dominican Republic, Canada, Botswana, Panama, Mexico, Australia, Iran, Uganda, Morocco, Jamaica, Ivory Coast, Thailand, China, Chile, Argentina, South Africa, and the U.S. Additionally, he has negotiated mineral-related business agreements with the governments of China, Morocco, Panama, France, and Nicaragua and many foreign and domestic industrial companies.

Dr. Tonking has made numerous presentations to government, management, technical, and investor audiences, and has chaired several domestic and foreign technical conferences, as well as served as a principal witness at Congressional hearings. He presently plays a significant role as Senior Mining Consultant for M. D. Campbell and Associates, and he serves in a variety of support functions, including property evaluations, reserve estimates, and associated activities.
